Common Name The Wreath-Shaped Pleione

Flower Size 2.8" [7 cm]

Found in central Nepal in rhododendron woodlands at elevations of 2850 to 3500 meters as a small sized, cold growing tewrrestrial with clustered, often obique, ovoid to ovoid conical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, spreading, lanceolate, acute leaf that gradually narrows to the crown like base especially visible after leaf fall that blooms in the spring on an erect, 3.2 to 4" [8 to 10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a cucullate, elliptic, rounded floral bract all arising on a newly arising pseudobulb through the new cupped leaf.

This species has the smallest range of the Pleione and is only found in central Nepal.
