Flower Size 2 to 3 1/2" [5 to 9 cm]
Found in Yunnan province of China in grassy subalpine meadows, under rhododendron shrubs in deep leaf litter, among rocks in shady locations and in open pine forests at elevations of 1100 to 3500 meters as a miniature sized, cold to cool growing terrestrial with squat, conical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, deciduous, lanceolate to elliptic, narrowly acuminate leaves with a petiole that blooms in the late winter and spring on an erect, basal, 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence that has scarious bracts and arises basally on a mature pseudobulb before the new growth appears.
