Common Name The Red Green Pleurothallis

Found in Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests at elevations of 950 to 1600 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with a basally terete ramicaul that gradually widens to the ancipitous apex with 2 distichous, short to elongate sheaths below, and carrying a single, apical, narrowly oblong-elliptic, rugose, shallowly emarginate, gradually narrowing below into the shortly conduplicate base leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on a fasiculate, few flowered, subsessile, racemose inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying fleshy, musty smelling flowers.

"Similar to P sicaria but distinguished by the sharply winged ramicaul. The margins of the leaves are thinly delineated. The fleshy flowers are borne in a short raceme. The sepals are conspicuously "cobble stoned" within. The petals are obovate, obtuse and entire. The lip is oblong with low obtuse, marginal angles below the middle." Luer 2004
