Found in Peru without collection data as a miniature sized, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls with 2 to 3, blackish, tubular sheaths below the middle and at the base and carrying a single, apical, elliptical, obtuse to rounded, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, arising through a spathe with an annulus below the apex of the ramicaul, 2.4 to 2.8" [6 to 7 cm], loose, secund, simultaneously opening several flowered, racmose inflorescence with an as long as the pedicel floral bract.
"This species and P jesupiorum Are closely allied but P ariasii is distinguished by the broader leaves and twice longer, narrowly oblong sepals that are spiculate-pubescent within. Instead of bright orange the sepals are yellow above the middle and purple below the middle, Except for color, the petals and lip are similar." Luer 1999
