Found in Veracruz and Chiapas states of southern Mexico and Puntarenas province of Costa Rica in rainforests and lower montane forests at elevation of 300 to 900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing, caespitose epiphyte with very short, terete stems with an annulus enveloped by loose, scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, arcuate, narrowly linear-oblanceolate, obtuse, notched, veryu fleshy, basally long attenuate into a canaliculate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a short, to .04" [1 mm] long, arising laterally from the ramicaul, fascile of single flowers with thin, funnel-shaped, truncate, apiculate, membraneous-papery, as long as the ovary floral bracts.
"The flower is open and the sepals do not make "windows" like the apically touching tips of the petals of P tribuloides. The sepals are remarkably verrucose and obtuse, the petals are obovate and thickened externally and the lip is oblong with trnasverse, cellular rugae or lamellae ie "Gill-Like"." Luer 2006
