Common Name La Bota Pleurothallis [A town in Cauca department of Colombia]

Found in Cauca department of Colombia at elevations around 1700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls basally enveloped by several, thin, tubular sheaths soon evanescent and carrying a single, erect, oblong-elliptic, subacute to obtuse, coriaceous, narrowing below into the cuneate, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, peduncle to .8" [2 cm] long, rachis to 1" [2.5 cm] long, to 1.6" [4 cm] long overall, successively to 6flowered inflorescence with tubular, acute, muxch shorter thanthe pedicel floral bracts.
"Muscarella bota-caucanensis Uribe-Velez and Sauleda is similar to P infinita (Luer) Luer a Bolivian species. The two species differ significantly in the shape of the labellum and construction of the petals. The labellum of M. infinita is oblong, rounded, 3-lobed, lateral lobes triangular, acute. The labellum of M. bota-caucanensis is oblong becoming broader towards the apex (disc), 3-lobed, lateral lobes obtuse, midlobe is densely pubescent. The petals of M. infinita are elliptic-ovate, margin basally fimbriate, aristate. The petals of M. bota-caucanensis are linear, basally densely fimbriate, hyaline, aristate."
