Common Name Brenner's Pleurothallis [American Orchid Enthusiast in Ecuador 1900’s]

Found in Bolivar, Loja and Zamora-Chinchipe provinces of western Ecuador in relatively dry scrub forests at elevations around 800 to 2500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with elongate ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thick, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, abruptly narrowing below into the twisted, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on short, on the back of the leaf through a spathe at the base of the leaf, 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence with shorter to longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"The petiole of the elliptical leaf is twisted so that the few flowered raceme appers on the back side of the leaf. The sepals are obtuse and pubescent within, the petals are obtuse and the lip long-unguiculate." Luer 2000
