Found in Venezuela, Surinam, Meta department of Colombia, Pataza, Morona-Santiago and Tungurahua provinces of Ecuador, Amazonas department of Peru, La Paz and Santa Cruz departments of Bolivia, Rio de Janiero stae of Brazil in rain forests at elevations of 100 to 900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing, caespitose epiphyte with ascending to horizontal, slender ramicauls carrying a single, apical, narrowly elliptical, obtuse to rounded, light green with purple spotting, cuneate below to the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer and fall on an suberect, arising on the back of the leaf, 1.4" [3.5 cm], to 15 successively flowered, racmose inflorescence with as long as the pedicel floral bracts.

"Recognized by its slender secondary stems which approach the leaves in length, acute elliptical leaves which may be suffused or flecked with purple, a short raceme producing successively yel-low-orange flowers with red aristate petals, and an oblong lip without lateral lobes but with minute basal lobules. Plants remain in flower nearly continuously. Similar to P pachyphyta but it has short, thick secondary stem and minute lateral lobes of the lip." Luer 1976
