Common Name or Meaning The Ciliate Pleurothallis

Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and northern Brazil at elevations of sea level to 2100 meters as a small sized, hot to cold growingshortly repent to caespitose epiphyte with an erect, stout, terete ramicaul enveloped basally by a tubular sheath below the middle and 1 to 2 others sat the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate to oblong, acute, emarginate apically, basally cuneate into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the winter on a nodding, racemose, to 4" [10 cm] long, successively usually solitary, several flowered inflorescence with tubular, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
A species often cited as P lanceana but that name is a synonym and is no longer valid
" Variable in size vegetatively, the raceme being shorter than to much longer than the leaf. The sepals are a shade of Yellow orange, while the synsepal is conspicuously suffused with brown below the middle. The sepals are variously ciliate and the calli of the lip vary in different proportions." Luer 2004
