Common Name The Conceição do Castelo Pleurothallis [A town in Espirito Santo near where the species was found]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil in evergreen forests at elevations around 100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot growing, caespitose epiphyte with cylindrical, erect ramicauls with 2, scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, lanceolate, acute, apex minutely bidentate, long-attenuate below into the pseudopetiolate base leaf that blooms in the late fall on a suberect to flexuous, arising from near the apex of the ramicaul through a miniscule speathe, much shorter than the leaf, peduncle filiform, to .36 to .6" [9 to 15 mm] long, rachis zigzag, successively single, 4 flowered inflorescence with slightly flared, oblique, brown, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and carrying rather small flowers that do not open well.

"Part of the P uniflora complex which are characterized by the small plants less than 4" [10 cm] tall, with inflorescence half as long or subequal to the leaf, linear-lanceolate leaves, fractiflex inflorescence and glabrous flowers. P conceicionensis differs in the purple brown enfused with green vs orange yellow finely spotted with dark purple, the floral bract is shorter than the pedicel vs significantly longer, the dorsal sepal is narrower and ovate, the petals are one-nerved, a shorter inflorescence, acute petals vs obtuse-rounded and lateral sepals basally forming a small, visible chin. Also P uniflora blooms in the alte spring and P conceicionensis blooms in the late fall. Phots of this species were published in Baumbach 2009 as Specklinia uniflora." Chiron & Sanson 2012
