Common Name The Lily Of The Valley-Like Pleurothallis

Found in Granada department of Nicaragua, Alajuela and Herida provinces of Costa Rica and Veraguas province of Panama in elfin forests at elevations of 1000 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with terete ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 inflated, scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, elliptic, coriaceous, dark green, tridenticulate apically leaf that is cuneate basally and blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, subtended by a narrow spathe arising from the apex of the ramicaul and rising between the condupicate sides of the subpetiolate base, peduncle 2.4 to 4" [6 to 10 cm] long, loose, secund, racemose, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long overall, laxly, nearly simultaneously several to amny flowered inflorescence with tubular, shorter than the epdicel floral bracts.
"Characterized by the stout ramicula clad in a loose sheath and shorter than the leaf. The subpetiolate base of the leaf clasps the spathe and peduncle. The inflorescence is a loose, secund raceme of relatively large, drooping flwers that area smooth and purple externally, but filled within by a mat of long-villous, white hairs. The petals are cuneate and more or less bilobed at the apex. The lip is transversely bilobed, tricarinate and log-unguiculate." Luer 2000
