Common Name The Cordate Leaved Pleurothallis

Found in the Dominican Republic at elevations of 850 to 1700 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, warm to cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with stout, terete, erect, ramicauls enveloped by a loose, tubular sheath below the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, suberect to spreading, thickly coriaceous, elliptical-ovate, aubacute to obtuse, rounded to shallowly cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the fall through spring on a short, arising and concealed by a spathe envelopeing the stout, thick, .04 to .06" [1 to 1.5 mm] long peduncle, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with thin, tubular, as long as to shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
"Similar to P miguelii in the Dominican Republic but it has subcordiform leaves that are 2.4 long by 1.2" wide [6 x 3 cm] The inflorescnce is racemose, multiflowered and longer thant he leaf. Outside of the country it is similar ti P casapensis but it is 7.2" tall, the inflorescence is racemose and multiflowered. The flowers are similar but the lateeral sepals of P casapensis are connate only 2/3's their length." Donald Dod 1978
