Found in Cauca department of Colombia at elevations of 2950 to 3150 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with an ascending to erect ramicaul enveloped by a loose tubular sheath near the middle and 2 to 3, loose, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late fall and early winter on a single, secund, arising through a slender, spathe from an annulus below the abscision layer, 7.2" [18 cm] long including the 2 to 2.4" [5 to 6 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with an infundibular, shorter thant he ovary floral bract.
"In habit the thick, ascending long-repent rhizome resembles L scansor but the flowers differ markedly. Although produced only a solitary raceme the flowers of this species are closest to P cassidis The dorsal sepal is connate to the lateral sepals about a third of their length and the lateral sepals are acutely deflexed just beyond the connation. The petals are olong, concave, obtuse and 3 veined. The lip is subquadrate or oblong with a broadly retuse apex and a low pair of calli near the middle." Luer 1998
