Common Name The Cup-Shaped Flower Pleurothallis

Found in Cuzco department of southeastern Peru and in Cochabamba department of Bolivia in cloud forests at elevations of 2800 to 3200 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial on roadbanks with erect, fasciculate, stout ramicauls enveloped by a long, loose tubular sheath more or less covering the upper half and 2 to 3 imbricating, basal sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and summer on 1 to 3, subtended by a slender spathe from an annulus, 3.2 to 6" [8 to 15 cm] long, secund, densely and simultaneously many flowered inflorescence and has an infudibular, much longer than the ovary floral bracts.
"The plant can be both stout and slender but the species is distinguished by the oblong, petiolate base leaf, a small spathe and 1 to 3 racemes of usually purple striped flowersslightly longer than the leaf. The sepals and the 3 veined petals are broad and obtuse, the lip is elliptical-oblong with a pair of luneat calli barely above the middle." Luer 1998
