Common Name The Dogs Head Pleurothallis [refers to the lip]

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Cochabamba department of Bolivia in cloud forests at elevations around 1900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2, thin sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly obovate, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, arising laterally from the ramicaul, filiform, to 2" [5 cm] long, secund, lax, successively few flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.

"This little species may be recognized by the long, slender, sepaline tails slightly thickened toward the apices. The translucent greenish white blades are spotted with purple and the blades of the caudate petals are ciliated. Microscopically the minute lip resembles the head of a dog with erect ears."
