Found in Trujillo state of Venezuela at elevations of 2000 to 2400 meters as a medium sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls with a tubular sheath below the middle and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, erect, thinly coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute, acuminate narrowly cuneate below into the slender petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an arching, arising from a spathe a short distance below the ramicaul apex, 2 to 4.4" [5 to 11 cm] long including the .8" [2 cm] long peduncle, loosely few flowered inflorescence with a closely infundibular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Distinguished by the slender ramicauls carrying obovate, acuminate leaves and blooms on an arching, loosely few flowered inflorescence that is shorter than the leaf. The transluscent sepals and petals are acute and striped with purple. The lip is deeply cordate with the apex rounded and the basal lobes are round and encircle the column." Luer 1999
