Common Name The Prickly Pleurothallis [refers to the hedgehog like flower]

Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia at elevations around 2300 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls with 2 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, narrowly obovate, subacute to obtuse, narrowly cuneate below into the indistinct petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a horizontal, arising laterally from the ramicaul, to 2.8" [7 cm] long including the .4 to .8" [1 to 2 cm] long peduncle, more or less creeping, loose, flexuous, successively single, several flowered inflorescence with a shprter than the pedicel floral bract.

"Distinguished by the lax, creeping raceme of successive flowers that resemble a spiny insect crawling throught he loose substrate. The sepals are spiculate with tiny tails. The petals are caudate and microsscopically ciliate. The lip is trilobed with an obtuse, verrucose apex and erect, rounded, black lobes below the middle. The unguiculate base exrtends beneath a pair of slender processes that project forward from the nase of the column." Luer 2006
