Found in Imbabura Ecuador at elevations around 3000 meters as a small sized, cold growing, densely caespitose epiphyte with a slender, erect ramicaul enveloped by a tubular sheath below the middle and another at the base and carrying a single, erect, thinly coriaceous, elliptical-obovate, otuse, shortly acuminate, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, 6" [15 cm] long including the 1.6 to 3.2" [4 to 8 cm] long, loosely subsecund, simultaneously many flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe at the base of the leaf with an oblique, acute floral bract.
