Common Name Holton's Pleurothallis [Orchid Collector in Colombia in 1800's ]
Flower Size .8" [2 cm]
Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia at unknown elevations as a medium to large sized, caespitose epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls with a spotted, tubular sheath below the middle and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms on an erect, arising from a spathe at the base of the leaf, loose, subsecund to 6.8" [17 cm] long including the .4" [10 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously several to many flowered inflorescence with a thin infundibular, acute, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
Only collected once and without locality in Cundinamarca and is very similar to P macrophylla in all aspects other than the morphology of the lip.
As in P. macrophylla, the lip is scaphoid
below the middle, but above the middle
the lip is glabrous, narrowed and decurved.
A longitudinally rounded, thickened,
central carina, together with the
thick, revolute sides, form a trilobed anterior
segment." Luer 1994
This is one that I need to search for in Colombia to find locational data.
