Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 2100 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls with a close tubular sheath below the middle and 2 to 3 inflated, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, oblong, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a subdense, subsecund, arising through a slender spathe from an annulus just below the abscission layer, 4 to 4.8" [10 to 12 cm] long including the .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously several flowered inflorescence with an infundibular, shorter than the ovary floral bract.
"Similar to P velaticaulis but distinguished by the slender habit, an oblong, petiolate leaf, a slender spathe .8" [2 cm] long, a subsecund raceme about as long as the leaf, gaping flowers with obtuse floral parts and an ovate-triangular, concave lip with a pair of pyramidal calli that overlap the margin and a triangular apex."
