Common Name Lance's Pleurothallis [English Orchid Enthusiast 1800's]

Found from Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela as well as Trinidad as a miniature, creeping or caespitose, hot to warm growing epiphyte that occurs in montane rain forest and evergreen forests at elevations of 0 to 2100 meters with a terete ramicaul with a single, apical, elliptic, obtuse, apiculate, thicker along the midrib, thickly coriaceous, gradually narrows below into the channeled petiole leaf and blooms in the summer, fall and winter on an apical, 4.5 to 5" [9 to 11 cm] long, suberect to horizontal to pendulous, racemose, successively few, several flowered inflorescence with small, ovate-triangular, acuminate, as long as the pedicel floral bracts and carrying the flowers at mid-leaf to as much longer that the leaf.
"Variable vegetatively in size, the raceme being shorter than to much longer than the leaf in length. The sepals are a shade of yellow orange while the synsepal is conspicuously suffused with red-brown below the middle. The sepals are variously ciliate and the calli of the lip vary in different proportions." Luer 2004
