Common Name The Broad Lipped Pleurothallis
Flower Size .4" [1 cm]
Found in Boyaca department of Colombia and Tachira Venezuela at elevations around 2500 to 2600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with an erect ramicaul enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptic, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later fall and early winter on an erect, 2" [5 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence with acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
"Differs in the loose raceme of a few, nearly simultaenosuly opening, spotted flowers. The sepals are sparsely long-ciliate-pubescent and long-caudate. The petals are long-ciliate below the long-caudate apex. The lip is thick and short with tall, erect, oblong, lateral lobes and a verrucose, fimbriate apex." Luer 2006
