Found in Cartago province of Costa Rica at elevations around 2000 meters as a miniature sized cool to cold growing, densely fasciculate-caespitose epiphyte with stout, ascending, terete ramicaul mostly enveloped by 4 to 5 imbricating, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to acute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on 3 to 4, erect, arising from near the apex of the ramicaul through an annulus, .15 to .20" [3 to 4 mm] long, fascile of successive, single flowered inflorescence with a tubular, longer to shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Characterized by the densely fasciculated ramicauls, petiolate leaves about equally as long, a fascile of short, single flowered peduncles, papillose ovaries and fleshy, verrucose sepals connate two-thirds the length into a broadly cylindrical tube. The petals are broadly obovate and the lip is oblong with a longitudinal pair of calli that fit within the longitudianl wqings of the column." Luer 2007
