Common Name or Meaning The Long Spiked Pleurothallis

Found in Sinaloa and Michoacan states of Mexico in humid montane forest, partially cleared for pasture, etc. on steep volcanic slopes and alluvial flats at elevations of 1700 to 2150 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, arising through a spathe at the apex of the ramicaul, peduncle slender, .2" [5 mm] long, rachis .6" [1,5 cm] long, loose, secund, simultaneously several, many flowered inflorescence with tubular as long as the pedicel floral bracts.
"Closely allied to P resupinata but differs in the proportionally long, lax, secund, successively flowered raceme that far surpasses the leaf. The sepals are fleshy, carinate, dark purple and glabrous, the petals are oblong and the l;ip is three lobed below the middle." Luer 2000
