Found in Trinidad & Tobago, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia at elevations of 2400 to 3000 meters as a medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with stout, erect ramcauls with a spotted, tubular sheath below the middle and 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, cuneate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the spring, summer and fall on a on more than one, arising from a spathe, suberect to arching, 6" [15 cm] long, several successively flowered inflorescence with an as long as to longer than the pedicel floral bract and carrying non-resupinate flowers.

”The size and color of the flowers is variable. Most commonly the flowers are small and transluscent green with small purplish spots. The protrudung petals are narrowly linear but various degrees of thickening occur towards the apex. The lip is transverse, concave centrally and acutely deflexed upon itself above the base with broadly rounded sides of the lateral lobes to either side. The apiculum of the rounded apex points downwards.” Luer 1999
