Found in Venezuela at elevations around 2400 meters as a small sized, cold growing caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 4 to 5 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong elliptic, widest near the middle, with a small apiculus at the apex, cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a fascile of peduncle .2 to .28" [5 to 7 mm] long, successively single, few flowered inflorescencce carrying campanulate, yellowish appearing in the herbarium flowers.
"Characterized by the large size 10.4 to 12.8" (26 to 32 cm) tall; oblong-elliptic leaves up to 5.2" [13 cm] long and 1.2" [3 cm] wide near the middle; entire, oblong-elliptic petals which are widest in the basal third; obliquely linear-ovate lateral sepals; lip which is distinctly wider across lateral lobes than across middle lobe; convex basal part of lip; and by a pair of low calli extending from the lip lateral lobes base and an additional keel running along the central part of the lip."
