Found in Yoro departemnt of Honduras, Jinotega, Chontales and Nueva Segovia departments of Nicaragua, Cartago and Limon provinces of Costa Rica and Pichincha, Esmeraldas and Azuay provinces of Ecuador at elevations of 100 to 1500 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing, shortly repent to caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect, sharply three winged, gradually broader towards the leaf ramicaul enveloped by 2 to 3 thin, tubualr sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coriaceous, narrowly ovate, acute, sessile base with the margins continuous with the wings of the ramicaul that blooms in the winter on a congested, arising through a spathe at the apex of the ramicaul, .4" [1 cm] long, simultaneously 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
"Characterized by the sharply winged ramicauls that bear considerably shorter leaves with which the margins of the leaf and wings of the ramicaul are continuous. A few small, dark brown, fleshy, minutely pubescent flowers are borne in a short, congested raceme at the bsae of the leaf. The sepals are tuberculate within and the petals are microscopically serrate. The lip is thick with a pair of central calli on the middle third and above the bilobulate base a cleft callus."
