Common Name The Helmet-Like Pleurothallis [refers to the uppermost synsepal]

Found in Napo province of Ecuador at elevations around 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with a stout, erect ramicaul with a close, tubular sheath below the middle and 2 to 3 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, very narrowly ovate, acute, attenuate, subcordate below into the rounded, sessile base leaf that blooms in the winter on a fascile of long pedicellate, slender arising througha spathe, at the base of the leaf, peduncle .4" [1 cm] long, simultaneously 1 to 2, single flowered inflorescence with infundibular, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate yellow, glabrous flowers.
"Similar to P archidonae but differs in the very narrow ovate leaves that are subcordate at the sessile base, instead of elliptical with a narrowly cuneate base. Also the flowers are yellow and not mottled with purple." Luer 1999
