Common Name The Elegant Pleurothallis

Found in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 300 to 3700 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing, densely caespitose epiphyte or terrestrial with fasiculate, stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by a loose tubular sheath near the middle and 2 imbricate others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring summer and fall on several, racemose, simultaneous, arising through a spathe and an annulus just below the abscission layer, slender, more or less distichous, 4 to 10" [10 to 25 cm] long, subdensly and simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with an as long as to shorter than the ovary floral bract and carrying faintly fragrant flowers.
