Common Name The Scarious Pleurothallis [Refers to the scarious sheaths of the stem]

Found in Michoacan, Mexico, Morelos, Guerrero and Oaxaca states of Mexico in montane rainforests and cloud forests at elevations of 1800 to 2300 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3, tubular, scarious sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, arcuate, convex, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, obtuse-rounded, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late spring and early summer on 1 to 2, subtended by a spathe from a node below the abscission layer, erect, 4" [10 cm] long, racemose, many flowered inflorescence witha tubular, oblique, shorter to as long as the ovary floral bract and carrying simultaneously opening flowers
"Similar to P dolichopus but differs in the narrowly acute, much shorter sepals that are not long-acuminate
