Common Name or Meaning The Segregate Leafed Pleurothallis [meaning obscure other than leaves apart]

Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica o n tree trunks in very humid forests at elevations of 1200 to 1550 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly to broadly elliptic-obovate, subacute to obtuse, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, to 3.2" [8 cm] long, lax, distichous, flexible, flexuous, successively several flowered inflorescence arising laterally from the ramicaul with oblique, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts.
This species has a great variety of leaf shapes, from broadly elliptic to narrowly obovate. The usually deep purple to brown striped to bright red with yellow tips. are borne successively in a loose, weak, flaaccid raceme. The tip of the dorsal sepal is variously thickened into a concave, thimble-like tube or aa solid finger-like extension, Sometimes the apex is totally devoid of any such developmant. The lip is even more variable with calli anmd lateral lobes above or below the middle witha constriction below the apical segment." Luer 2006
