Found in Azuay province of Ecuador at elevations around 3000 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, fasciculate, stout ramicauls with a loose tubular sheath on the middle third and 2 to 3 loose, imbricating sheaths at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, congested, more or less secund, arising through an oblique spathe from an annulus below the abscission layer, 2 to 3.6" [5 to 9 cm] long, including the 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long peduncle, mostly simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with a tubular, inflated, longer than the ovary floral bract.

Similar to P salpingantha but P suinii differs in the petiolate base leaf and the deeply connate sepals forming a tube that is constricted below the thickened apices.
