Found at least in Venezuela and Colombia as a miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte at elevations of 450 to 3000 meters with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and one below the middle carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse petiolate leaf that is cuneate below into the petiole and blooms in the spring summer and fall on a short, arising from an ascending spathe, apical, successively single flowered inflorescence with as long as to shorter than the pedicel floral bract and holding the flower at mid-leaf.
This species is similar to both P jostii and P trimeroglossa.
