Common Name The Warty Pleurothallis

Flower Size .2" [5 mm]

Found in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Heredia province of Costa Rica, Panama province of Panama, Valle de Cauca department of Colombia and Cotopaxi province of Ecuador at elevations of 70 to 550 meters as a small sized, hot growing, shortly repent to caespitose epiphyte with an erect ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, narrowly ovate, acute, abruptly narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, subtended by a spathe at the base of the leaf, 2" [5 cm] long, few to several flowered inflorescence with as long as the pedicel floral bracts.

"Characterized by an acute, elliptical, thickly coriaceous leaf borne by a terete ramicaul. The raceme is short with a few, fleshy, purplish flowers borne in a short raceme. The sepals are acute, the laterals semiconnate, the petals are minutely serrate and the lip is thick with acute, retrorse marginal lobes between the middle and basal thirds." Luer 2004
