Full shade Warm LATE Summer EARLY Fall

Common Name The Villous Sepal Plaurothallis [refers to the adaxially hairy apical portion of the sepals]

Flower Size .16" [4 mm]

Found in Espirito Santo state of Brazil in patches of Atlantic coastal forests at elevations around 700 meters as a mini miniature sized, warm growing, caespitose epiphyte with terete, green ramicauls enveloped by 1 to 2 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, green, thickly chartaceous, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, acute and 3 toothed apically, long acuminate to subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on an erect, arising from near the apex of the ramicaul, slightly flexuous, 2 to 4.8" [5 to 12 cm] long, successively 1 to 2, several flowered inflorescence with tubular, green, acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers.

"This new species is similar to P fusca, from which it may be distinguished by the leaf width and the indumentum of sepals. The leaves in P fusca are usually more than .6" [1.5 cm] wide and the sepals are velvety on the apical portion, whereas in P. villosisepala the leaves are less than .4" [1 cm] wide and the sepals are shaggy on the apical portion."
