Common Name Werner's Pleurothallis [Florian Werner German Educator and original collector of the species current]

Found in Zamora-Chinchipe province of Ecuador at elevations around 3000 meters as a small sized, cold growing, prolific epiphyte with stout, erect ramicauls with 2 to 3 tubular, sheaths below the middle and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, arising through a spathe from an annulus, peduncle 2" [5 cm] long, rachis 5.2" [13 cm] long, densely and simultaneously many flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

"Other than having considerably larger flowers P werneriana is similar to Pleurothallis weddelliana . The main distinctioin is that P werneriana is prolific in habit and P wedelliana is densely caespitose."
