Found in Thailand, Borneo, Sumatra, Malaysia and New Guinea in heath, lowland, and hill forests at elevations of sea-level to 1000 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with conical, olive, purple pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, lanceolate, acute, plicate, shiny greenish purple above, bright red purple beneath, narrowing basally into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and spring on an erect, 28" [to 70 cm] long, pubescent, successively single, to 20 flowered indflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts. These flowers have a moveable lip that triggers and shuts tight when something touches it.
