Found in New Guinea in humus of montane forests at elevations around 600 to 800 meters as a large sized, warm growing terrestrial with a short rhizome giving rise to graceful stems carrying laxly 12 to 13, erect-patent, 3 nerved, lanceolate, long acuminate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a graceful, terete, shortly subtomentose, to 26" [65 cm] long overall, few bracted, rachis to 4.4" [11 cm] long, laxly 8 to 15 flowered inflorescence with patent, minutely pubescent, lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
