Found in Burundi, Rwanda, Zaire, Kenya and Uganda in highland forests at elevations of 1800 to 2600 meters as a miniature to medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with clustered, narrowly conical, dark green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, ovate to obovate, obtuse, basally auriculate, thin leaf that blooms in the winter and spring on a terminal, branched, 8" [20 cm] long inflorescence carrying 5 to 30 successively opening flowers
