Found in Zaire, Malawi and Zambia in brachystegia forests on lichen covered trees at elevations around 1100 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing terrestrial that forms dense mats and has clustered, globose to ovoid, dark green to purplish pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, linear, grass-likedeciduous in the dry season leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect, .8 to 2" [2 to 5 cm] long, 1 to 5 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant [primrose] flowers
