Found in southern Madagascar in high elevation ericaceous scrub and humid forests at elevations from 1000 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphytic orchid with small, closely appressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by scarious, striate sheaths and carrying a few, flat, elliptic-oblong, shortly acute, contracted basally leaves that blooms in the later spring and early summer on a terminal, 2" [5 cm] long, brown pilose, 6 to 7 flowered inflorescence with 2 to 3 bractiform, narrowly lanceolate sheaths and floral bracts that are 2/3 the length of the pedicel..
