Common Name Laurent's Polystachya [Belgian Orchid Collector in Zaire later 1800's early 1900's]

Found in Zaire, Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda in montane and submontane rainforests at elevations around 150 to 1350 meters as a small to medium sized, hot cool growing epiphyte with ellipsoid pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4, well spaced, oblong, obtuse leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on a terminal, erect, sometimes simple but often with 1 to 5 branched, to 8" [20 cm] long, rather laxly many flowered inflorescence with strongly scented, densely pubescent on the exterior flowers .
