Common Name The Large Bracted Polystachya

Found in Tanzania, Malawi and Mozambique in submontane forests at elevations of 1700 to 1900 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with conical to ovoid, 2 to 3 noded pseudobulbs carryung 2 to 3, lanceolate to oblanceolate, conduplicate, subacute to obtuse leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, arising before the leaves develop, somewhat pubescent, 1 to 2” [2.5 to 5 cm] long, 4 to 10 flowered inflorescence with large, cordate, mucronate, papery floral bracts and carrying somewhat pubescent flowers with greenish white to greenish yellow tepals, the sepals purple tinged, the lip white with a yellow green midline.
