Common Name or Meaning Perrier's Polystachya [French Botanist in Madagascar 1900's]

Found in central Madagascar on bare granite rocks at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing lithophyte with cylindrical pseuodobulbs carrying 2 to 3, linear-liguate, coriaceous, obtuse leaves that blooms in the summer on a 12 to 24" [30 to 60 cm] long, racemose, densely many flowered inflorescence enveloped by longly adpressed sheaths and a short, thick, rigid, equalling half the length of the pedicel floral bract.
