Found in Malawi in evergreen, riverine and submontane forests at elevations around 1200 to 1550 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte and occasional lithophyte with oblong, glossy pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 5, ligulate to oblanceolate, bright green, purple tinged marginally and basally leaves that blooms in the spring on a 2.4" [6 cm] long, pubescent, densely 5 to 15 flowered inflorescence arising with the new growth.
