Found in Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Santander and Cundinamarca departments of Colombia, Tachira state of Venezuela and Pichincha province of Ecuador in premontane forests at elevations of 1500 to 2300 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 5 to 7 basal, rosulate, ovate-lanceolate to oblanceolate, acute, glabrous, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and fall on an erect, peduncle 13.2" [33 cm] long, slender to relatively stout, glandular above the lower third, otherwise glabrous, provided with 6 sheathing bracts, rachis to 6.8" [17 cm] long, sublaxly many flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, glandular, almost twice as long as the ovary floral bracts.
