Common Name The Two Spot Ponthieva [refers to the large spot visible on each exterior side of the lip]

Found in Ecuador at elevations of 1860 to 3000 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 3 to 5, rosulate, glabrous, ovate-elliptic, acute, narrowing below into a shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a strict to substrict, terminal, peduncle to 6" [15 cm] long, provided with a few closely embracing sheathing bracts, rachis 2" [5 cm] long, subsecund, loosely 5 to 8 flowered inflorescence with elliptical, acuminate, glandular-pubescent, much shorter than the ocvary floral bracts.
