Found in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras in wet, montane, deciduous oak forests at elevations around 800 to 2100 meters as a miniature to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a 3 to 5, basal, elliptic to oblanceolate to ovate, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, peduncle 10 to 12" [25 to 30 cm] long, pubescent, provided a few elongate sheathing bracts, rachis 4" [10 cm] long, 5 to 15 flowered inflorescence with pubescent, accute to acuminate, , half as long to as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying small, non-resupinate, white flowers.
Distinguished by the three lobed lip with 2 calli at the base and by the glabrous petals. Fritz Hamer 1985
