Found in Taiwan in alpine grasslands and scree slopes at elevations of 3000 to 3900 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with subglose to ovoid tubers giving rise to 1 to 2, tubular, membrtaneous, basal sheaths and carrying cauline, alternate, clustered to widely spaced, green, linear to linaer-lanceolate, glabrous, acute to acuminate apically leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, pale green, 1.6 to 4" [4 to 10 cm] long, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence with green to purple, lanceolate, lower one excveeding the ovary, acuminate apcially floral bracts
