Common Name Hassler's Ponthieva [German Original collector of the type]

Found in Amambay department of Paraguay at elevations below 600 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 5 to 7, rosulate, glabrous, attenuate below into the short, pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, subsinuous to straight, peduncle 2.8 to 7.6" [7 to 19 cm] long, the upper part is slightly glandular-pilose, provided with 4 to 5, amplecicaul, elliptical, subacute, well spaced sheathing brracts, rachis to 3.2" [8 cm] long, 5 to 12 flowered inflorescence with oval-elliptic, closely acuminate, half as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying inverted flowers.
